Voicemail / Enhanced Voicemail
The University has installed an Octel Voice Messaging System to provide Voice Mail Service to Students, Faculty, and Staff. Every resident student with an extension on the campus system will also have a mailbox on the system. Unanswered calls to a student extension will be automatically forwarded to an extension mailbox. If the extension is shared, the caller will hear the names of the students at that extension and will be prompted to select one of their mailboxes. The caller will then hear the personal greeting that the selected student has created. The caller’s message will be deposited in that student’s mailbox.
The University has added Enhanced Voicemail which allows students to listen to their campus voicemail via their e-mail account. Voice mail messages are forwarded automatically to the students SJU e-mail address as an attached file.
Local and Long Distance
Local and long distance calling is included in resident students' basic telephone services fee (which is applied to your bill each semester). Students are no longer required to input a Pin, and will not be billed for these calls. Students just dial '9' + '1' + the area code and number. Students should plan to use a prepaid calling card to place international calls.
