How to Add A Network Printer in Windows XP:
We have decided to change all network printers from Samba to a new method called TCP/IP. The main benefit for thischange relates to the speed of printing. The TCP/IP method eliminates Samba from the printing part and instead goes directly to the printer’s queue. This also lightens the load that Samba has to process and will hopefully result in file shares speeding up as well. This new way of printing will effect both Windows XP users, as well as Windows 98 users. Windows XP users must be changed over to TCP/ IP printing because we plan to remove Samba side printing
from the network, better known as \\sju_fs1\printer. Also, Windows 98 machines must be upgraded to Windows
XP, so that they can print to a network printer.
