Operating The Touch Panel Control System

The following information is helpful for
Barbelin 301, Bellarmine 009, 014, 115, 215, Mandeville 310, 313, Science 300, 400
Please Note: The Look and Feel of some rooms "Touch Panel Controls" may differ slightly but they all function the same way.

 

Standard Touch Panel Control System


1. POWER ON THE PC.

Check the PC located in the podium. If the PC is off press the power button. If the PC is already on press the enter key twice to wake it up.


2. STARTING THE SYSTEM.

To start the Control System, follow the directions on the screen.

If the screen appears to be off it's not. It's merly in sleep mode.

To wake up the Touch Panel simply press anywhere on the screen to wake it up. Then follow the directions on the screen.

Depending on the room you are assigned the Touch Panel screen may either be in black and white or in color.

After the system powers on it's ready to accept your media of choice.

 

3. PREPARING THE MEDIA.

These rooms are equipped with a VCR and a DVD player. Some rooms may have a tuner to access cable TV. Depending on the room you can control the tuner from the Touch Panel or manually.

Please Note: Some rooms may not have a DVD player installed. If this is the case please use the PC's DVD player.

If you are using a VHS tape or a DVD place the media in the required player. Make sure that the VCR or DVD player is on.

If not, push the power button and the LCD display should light up indicating the media player is on.


4. CONTROLING THE MEDIA.

You can control both the VCR and DVD players from the podiums Touch Panel. After you select a source the controls for that device will appear on the Touch Panel

The VCR has standard VCR control functions:
- Fast Forward
- Play
- Fast Rewind
- Pause
- Stop

The DVD has standard DVD control functions:
- Menu
- Title
- Enter
- Previous
- Play
- Next
- Pause

 

5. SELECTING A SOURCE TO DISPLAY.

To select a source to display such as a PC, Laptop, VCR, DVD...simply touch that source on the Touch Panel with your finger.

Once you select a source to display on the screen that source will highlight to indicate it has been selected.

Your source will now display on the screen.


Touch Panel Shutdown Procedure


1. REMOVING THE MEDIA.

Remove your VHS tape or DVD from the players and/or disconnect the laptop cable and Ethernet cable from your laptop.

Do not disconnect the laptop cable and Ethernet cable from the podium.


2. SHUTTING DOWN THE SYSTEM.

Touch the "End Session" button on the screen.

On the screen it will ask you if you want "Turn Off" the system.

If you are ready to shut down the sytem select "Yes and Continue".

If you are NOT ready to end this session select "No and Return".

The projector will power off, the screen will recess into the ceiling and the DVD and VCR will power off. If you are using the Document Camera please remeber to power it off manually.

The room is now completely powered off.
